What We Believe

Doctrinal statement

Bible – We believe the Holy Scriptures, consisting of 66 books/Old and New Testament, to be the inspired Word of God, and are the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. The word of God is powerful according to: II Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12.

God – Father/God created all things in heaven and on earth according to Genesis 1:1; John 1:1. We believe that God exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. There were none before Him and shall be none after him according to Ephesians 4:4-6.

Jesus – Jesus Christ is the son of God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross as the sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Furthermore, He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven. No one comes to the Father except through Him, recorded in Mathew 1:1-25; John 14:6.

Holy Spirit – We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit who convicts men, making them aware of their sin and the salvation available through Jesus. He regenerates, guides, instructs, and empowers the believer for godly living and service and is also referred to as He, Spirit of Truth and Comforter, recorded in St. John 14:16-17; 1 Corinthians 2:13; Acts 1:1-8; I Corinthians 12:1-11; and Acts 2:4. We believe in the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit for the edifying of the Body of Christ according to I Corinthians 12:1-29.

Man – We believe that Man was created in the image and likeness of God and sinless, but fell into sin and is therefore lost and subject to judgment. Therefore, man cannot save himself from this judgment but can accept the death of Jesus as an atonement for his sin; and accepting the free gift of salvation according to: Genesis 5:1-2; Ephesians 2:8; Isaiah 55:1-2.

Salvation – The sacrificial death of Jesus Christ provides the only way of justification and salvation for all who believe. We believe that salvation is free and that we are saved through grace. We believe that through the shedding of  the blood of Jesus, we are atoned for our sins and iniquity; and that we become born again-new creatures in Christ Jesus, according to: Isaiah 53:12; Romans 5:9-11; Ephesians 1:7; Revelation 12:11; John 3:3; 3:16-36; Ephesians 2:8, John 14:6; and II Corinthians 5:17.

Sin – Jesus accepts the Sinner but denounces their sin. We believe that no sin is too big for God to forgive. Christians ought not condone or accept, ignore, or promote any sin as permissible but forgivable through Jesus the Christ. The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life,” according to Ephesians 1:7; 1 John 1:9.

Satan – We believe in the reality and personality of Satan. Job 1:7; II Cor 11:14.

Resurrection of Christ – We believe in the imminent return/second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in resurrection of the dead in Christ (rapture), and in the eternal unification (caught up together) with Christ Jesus, found in I Corinthians 15:50-57; I Thessalonians 4:13-18.

The Church – The true Church is composed of all such persons, who through saving faith in Jesus Christ, has been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and is united together in the body of Christ of which He is the head. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ according to Hebrews 10:24-25.

Baptism & Communion –We believe in water baptism by immersion after accepting Christ as personal Savior. It is a testimony of death to sin and resurrection to a new life found in Acts 2:38 and in Mathew 28:19. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial service setting forth in sacred and symbolic manner the death of the Lord Jesus Christ; all true believers should share in it found St. Luke 22:19.

Marriage -We believe that the institute of marriage is a covenant and a holy institution originated by God and between a man and a woman according to Genesis Chapter 2:19-25.
